CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Senior right-hander Maggie Chapin has been named Co-Big South Pitcher of the week in softball, the league announced on Tuesday.
Chapin went 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA in four games with three complete games in the Longwood Spring Break Classic. The Lancers went 3-3 against Youngstown State, Le Moyne and Lafayette on the weekend.Â
Over 22 2/3 innings, Chapin struck out 30 and walked 12, surrendering just seven runs and six earned. The Shawnee, Kan., native posted her league-leading ninth, 10th and 11th complete games. Chapin struck out 12 in an 8-4 win over Lafayette on Sunday.
The weekly honor, which she shared with Lonna Addison of Winthrop, is the fourth one her career. Chapin was Co-Big South Freshman of the Week on March 27, 2023 and Pitcher of the Week on March 18 and April 1, 2024.
Chapin is 6-6 with a 3.01 ERA in 16 games and 13 starts this season, She has struck out 94 and walked 48 in 83 2/3 innings.
Longwood (11-15) is back in action Wednesday at Norfolk State. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
