DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Longwood men's tennis team won 11 matches on the second day of the Davidson Invitational Saturday, including going a perfect 8-0 in singles play.
Along the way, the Lancers' Timéo Puech beat UNC Asheville's No. 1 Jip Mens in straight sets and Daniel Borisov dumped the 2025 Big South Freshman of Year Alexandre Bergeron from Gardner-Webb in three sets. Puech topped Mens, 6-4, 6-4, and Borisov defeated Bergeron, 6-3, 2-6, 10-6.
Elsewhere, in the B draw, Ninad Raut got past Alex Morris of Queens, 6-2, 2-6, 10-8. With the win, Raut improved to 1-1 in singles on the weekend.
Daniel Lopez outlasted GWU's Noah Zeiger, 5-7, 6-4, 12-10, in the C draw.
Rufus Plane continued his strong play with a second consecutive 6-1, 6-2 victory in the D draw, this time against the Runnin' Bulldogs' Graham Bourne.
Alejandro Uribe then took care of Trevor Gray from UNC Asheville, 6-0, 6-1, in the E draw and Petter Lindquist beat Wofford's Jacob Raider, 6-3, 6-2, in the F draw.
Marko Mrdak finished Longwood's singles efforts on the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Eric Lindemann from UNCG in the G draw.
Doubles action got underway Saturday with the Lancers playing to a 3-2 mark.
Puech and Borisov teamed to defeat Morris and Noe Villen, 6-3, in the A draw. Plane and Mrdak topped Diego Jimenez and Jan Montero Diaz, also from Queens, 6-1, in the B draw and Lindquist and Raut beat Davidson's Charlie Ratliff and Miles Kennedy, 6-3, in the C draw.
The tournament concludes Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
