DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Longwood men's tennis team opened the Davidson Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Lancers continued their strong start to the fall, going 7-1 as singles action in the seven, eight-player compass draws began.
In the A draw, Timéo Puech downed Kai Villagomez of Davidson in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 10-6, while Daniel Borisov also defeated UNCG's Tymofiy Khrystyuk in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
In the B draw, the Spartans' Devon Moskowitz outlasted Ninad Raut, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-8.
In the C draw, Daniel Lopez topped Julian Brager-Carlsen from Wofford, 5-7, 6-1, 10-6.
In the D draw, Rufus Plane made quick work of Samuel Presser from UNCG, 6-1, 6-2, while Alejandro Uribe also won in straight sets against Davidson's Daniel Cowan Jr., 6-0, 6-2 in the E draw.
Petter Lindquist then beat Eric Lindemann of UNCG, 6-3, 7-5, in the F draw and Marko Mrdak defeated Hamilton Huitt from Queens, 6-4, 6-2, in the G draw.
The tournament continues Saturday at 9 a.m.
