WHAT THEY SAID:
"We started the day off a little behind on the first nine," said Longwood Head Coach
Megan Weaver. "Greenville Country Club is trying to thicken the grass on their greens; yesterday, for the practice round, the greens were closer to fairway length than green. The first few holes were more of an adjustment (after they cut and rolled the greens this morning) as putts were quicker and breaking more. However, we adjusted and really overcame the physical and mental challenges. I'm really proud of the turnaround and cutting our team score."
"Madison had a fantastic day, hitting the ball so consistently," Weaver added. "The rough was absorbing balls—there were so many lost balls that 'disappeared'. The players that hit the fairway score well, and those that don't can really struggle. That will be key tomorrow!"
