ROCK HILL, S.C. — Longwood doubles pairs of Timéo Puech and Daniel Borisov and Daniel Lopez and Alejandro Uribe won their first-round matches in the 2025 Big South Men's Tennis Individual Championship on Friday at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
Second-seeded Puech and Borisov topped the No. 2 duo of Daksh Prasad and Victor Mayer from Presbyterian, 8-4, while seventh-seeded Lopez and Uribe upset No. 2 Bryant's Dan Baquero and Miguel Angel Machado, 8-7 (4).
In singles, Puech, the No. 3 seed in the that draw, defeated No. 13 Prasad, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals.
Also in singles action, fifth-seeded Machado beat No. 12 Rufus Plane, 7-5, 6-0. No. 4 Alexandre Bergeron of Gardner-Webb topped No. 14 Ninad Raut, 6-1, 6-2 and PC's No. 2David Mamlat, got by No. 15 Uribe, 6-3, 6-2.
Finally, No. 11 Boyd Schreiber from Gardner-Webb outlasted sixth-seeded Borisov, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
The singles and doubles champions this weekend will receive automatic entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championships. That event is set for Nov. 6-9 at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
