BLACKSBURG, Va. — Junior Daniel Borisov won both of his matches in the main draws of singles and doubles competition at the 2025 ITA Atlantic Regional at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Friday.
Borisov began the day with a 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-3 victory over Jean-Karim Olivier de Sardan from Old Dominion, advancing to the round of 32 where he will face Virginia's Stiles Brockett.
Borisov then teamed with senior Timéo Puech to dispatch the Howard pair of Michael Major and Ethan Boswell, 8-6, earning a spot in the round of 16, where the ninth-seeded duo will meet Virginia Tech's Thomas Brandao and Nicolas Iantosca on Saturday.
Puech, the No. 9 seed in the singles draw, fell in his match against Brandao, 6-4, 7-5, sending him to the consolation draw.
Alejandro Uribe, who won his way into the may draw on Friday on the strength of a pair of wins, dropped his main-draw encounter with the Hokies' Julian Lozano. After Lozano won the first set, 6-4, Uribe took the second, 6-1. Lozano prevailed in the third, 6-1, as well.
Uribe and sophomore Daniel Lopez lost their doubles match with with the Virginia Tech team of Blake Hilsen and Eyal Shumilov, 8-1.
The two finalists in the main singles draw and the doubles champion earn bids to the NCAA Individual Championships, which will be held in Lake Nona, Fla., at the USTA National Campus on Nov. 18-23.
Day three play starts at 9 a.m., on Saturday.
