WHAT THEY SAID:
"What a day! It's the second week in a row that I've lost my voice,"said Longwood Director of Cross Country & TrackÂ
Brooke Craig. "The women wanted to make a statement today and I believe they did. They worked together from first on the team to the last to achieve today's mission."
"Today was another great race from Sophie who continues to run like a veteran," said Craig. "She led a very solid first five scorers who had major break through races today."
"Today's senior race was meaningful to me because I started my college career at our home course," said Longwood senior and team captain
Nicole Pinder. "It was great to defend it one last time as a Lancer. The overwhelming support from professors, parents, athletic teams, and friends made this race extra special. Tears were shed, but they were happy tears. I am thankful for the opportunities Longwood Cross Country has given me, and I am proud to represent all our hard work on our home course."
"Senior day meant a lot to me because I came to this team two years ago looking to grown and expand my confidence as a runner," said Longwood senior and team captain
Haley Slattery. "Being able to lead this team in my final year has been very special to me because I am surrounded by some of the strongest women and teammates I know. I can confidently say that my heart has been filled, and I am a stronger person than I was when I started my collegiate career four years ago. All the support today from teammates, friends, family, other athletic teams and coaches made this home meet extra special. I am extremely thankful for all the opportunities Longwood Cross Country has given me these past two years. I can't wait to continue working together as a team to prepare for conference next month, and I'm proud to call myself a Lancer."Â
