Lora Adds Four to Men’s Tennis Roster for 2024-25

Graduate transfer, three freshmen make up class

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood men's tennis team has added four student-athletes for the 2024-25 season, Director of Tennis Carlos Lora announced Thursday.
 
Joining the Lancers this season are graduate transfer Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva (Corrientes, Argentina/INEAA/Southeastern Oklahoma State/Seward County CC) and freshmen Petter Lindquist (Norrköping, Sweden/De la Gardiegymnasiet), Marko Mrdak (Perth, Australia/Applecross Senior HS) and Ian Perl (Aventura, Fla./Florida Virtual School).

"I am very excited about the incoming class that we have for our men," Lora said. This group of freshmen that we have coming in with Marko, Petter and Ian have a lot of competitive experience at a very high level internationally and domestically. We also have a great transfer in Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva who was named as an All-American last year at Southeastern Oklahoma State. I am looking forward to seeing what this group will accomplish together this year."

Gonzalez Paiva arrives at Longwood after playing at both NCAA Division II Southeastern Oklahoma State (2022-24) and NJCAA Division I Seward County Community College (2020-22). He helped Seward County to the program's first national title in 2022, going 14-9 as a sophomore.

 He was named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team in 2019-20, as well.

Gonzalez Paiva played to a combined 37-16 record in two seasons at Southeastern Oklahoma State. He was named an ITA All-American in doubles, going 11-4 with his partner, finishing the season ranked No. 8 in the country. He posted 28 doubles victories with the Storm.

Petter Lindquist
5-11 | 165 pounds
Norrköping, Sweden 
De la Gardiegymnasiet 

Lindquist, a native of Norrköping, Sweden, comes to Farmville after playing for Lidkopings TK Division 1. He captained the team, helping lead it to a national championship.
 
Lindquist has been consistently ranked in the top 10 in Sweden in his age group and has made significant runs in national tournaments.

Marko Mrdak 
6-3 | 225 pounds

Perth, Australia
Applecross Senior HS
 
Mrdak played at Applecross Senior High School in Perth, Australia and was a member of team beginning in the seventh grade. He represeented western Australia in a national tournament in his time at the school.
 
Mrdak has been trained by one of the top coaches in Australia during his junior years.

6-0 | 160 pounds
Aventura, Fla.
Florida Virtual School
 
Perl enters Longwood after graduating from Florida Virtual School in 2024. He played one season of high school tennis at Don Soffer Aventura High School in 2020. He was the first player to win a match for the Barracudas.
 
Perl has played many tournaments along the UTR tour with several good results through his time competing on the circuit.
