CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Longwood sophomore forward
Frances Ulysse has been Co-Big South Player of the Week in women's basketball, the league announced on Monday.
Ulysse averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, leading Longwood to a 1-1 week. She scored nine points and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds as the Lancers defeated American on the road, 59-41, on Wednesday for the first time since 2006-07. The win gave Longwood victories in three of the first four games to start a season for just the third time in its Division I history.
Ulysse followed it with a career-best 16 points and six field goals in a 68-64 loss to at Georgia Southern on Saturday.
The weekly honor, which she shares with Winthrop guard/forward Amourie Porter, is the first of Ulysse's career.
A native of Montréal, Québec, Ulysse is averaging 9.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent (17-for-34) from the floor.
Longwood (3-2) is back in action Monday at 7 p.m., at Queens on ESPN+.
