FARMVILLE, Va. – Fresh off a 21-win campaign and a second straight top-three finish in the Big South Conference, the Longwood women's basketball team and head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery announced a challenging 13-game non-conference schedule on Wednesday that features five home games in the Joan Perry Brock Center and bouts against five teams that finished in the top four of their respective conferences last season.
Combined, Longwood's non-conference Division I opponents amassed a 175-139 (.557) record in 2025-26 and include reigning Atlantic 10 regular-season co-champion George Mason, Sun Belt runner-up Troy, and four teams which joined the Lancers in reaching the 20-win plateau.
Highlighting Longwood's non-conference slate is a home showdown against in-state foe and the 2026 Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament qualifier Patriots on Nov. 24, a Longwood Homecoming & Alumni Weekend showdown against Virginia Union on Nov. 6, a road rematch against Sun Belt power Troy on Nov. 19, and a three-game road trip to the Sunshine State to that begins with back-to-back bouts against 20-win teams South Florida and Stetson and concludes with a contest against Bethune-Cookman.
Meanwhile, Longwood's full home slate in the Joan Perry Brock Center -- where the Lancers amassed a dominating 12-3 record last season -- also includes the season opener against the Apprentice School on Nov. 2 and a Nov. 16 game with Emory & Henry.
The Lancers, who finished third in the league standings a year ago, led the conference in scoring, finished seventh in the nation in steals per game while also leading the Big South in attendance for a second consecutive season.
The first road game of the season pits Longwood against Charlotte Nov. 9 before the Lancers travel to Philadelphia to face UPenn of the Ivy League at the historic Palestra on Nov. 12. Longwood also heads to William & Mary Nov. 28. The Lancers then open December with a pair of games against Southern Conference opponents, UNCG in Greensboro, N.C., on Dec. 2, while Furman comes to Farmville on Dec. 5.
Longwood treks to Tampa, Fla., for an encounter with South Florida on Dec. 15 before taking part in Hatter Holiday Hoops at Stetson in DeLand, Fla. The Lancers are slated to play the Hatters Dec. 20 and Bethune-Cookman of nearby Daytona Beach the next day.
Longwood, which is coming off its second consecutive 20-win season, was 21-10 overall and 11-5 in the Big South Conference in 2025-26.
