FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood women's cross country has been focusing on running together all season, and that paid off on Friday night at the Lancer Pink Invitational.
 
The Lancers took the top five spots and had seven runners set personal bests with two other runners less than two seconds from setting personal best marks of their own.
 
NOTABLE RESULTS:
 
As she has all season, Sophie Farley led the charge. The freshman, fresh off a top 10 5K time a week ago, was six tenths of a second off her personal best while winning the race with an 18:39 flat.
 
She led a clean sweep of the top five that saw all five runners post sub-20 minute times.
 
Priscilla Keller followed Farley in second, with Keller's time of 19:13.7 setting her personal best by 1.1 seconds.
 
Sam Bolen slotted home third with a 19:18.5 that was a personal best by 31 seconds for a breakthrough race.
 
Kirsten Morley, a freshman, was a mere 1.3 seconds off her personal best while notching a 19:19.2 to finish fourth.
 
Haley Slattery rounded out the scoring Lancers with a 19:51.1 to give the Lancers a spread of 1:12 between their top five runners.
 
Freshmen Emily Johnston (21:11), Jensen Auman (22:34.2), Cassandra Miller (22:36.8) and Bella Beasley (23:46.3) all set personal best marks as well. Johnston, Auman and Beasley broke their personal bests by more than a minute.
 
Kai Wheeler also set her personal best with a 21:40.4.

"The team continued the pack running they've worked on all season," said Longwood Director of Cross Country & Track Brooke Craig. "They worked together to help each other have some big PRs. They are sharpening up for the remainder of the season."
