HOW IT HAPPENED:
For the Lancers, round two was where the team made the headlines. All four players competing shaved at least one stroke off their score, and all four carded rounds below par.
George was solid throughout the day to finish in the top five. He shot an even par over his first 18 holes and only got better from there. His final round of 69 was his best of the season, and he was tied for fifth in the field with eight birdies.
Hoover also posted back-to-back rounds at par or better with a 72-71 combination. He was tied for third among the field with nine birdies in his season debut for Longwood. The effort allowed him to climb into a tie for ninth.
Scott Jordan shook off a slow start to card a 71 in the second round. It served as his top round of the young season, and he finished the day tied for 20
th.
Matthew Lyons made his collegiate debut for Longwood, and the freshman bounced back from a tough opening round to post a 70 over his final 18 holes. He was the only Lancer to card an eagle on the day, and he shaved a full eight strokes off his opening round score.
