FARMVILLE, Va. – Maryanna Guy was named the Big South Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. This is the third such award that Guy has won this season.
 
​Guy was a big bat for the Lancers this week, hitting .300 while posting a team-best .900 slugging percentage. The freshman was important in the Campbell series, getting a hit in each of the three contests.

Her hits were important and timely, as Guy's home run in game two helped solidify Longwood's lead and her hit in game three helped set up the inning where the Lancers took the lead for good. Guy sent two home runs out of the park while sending four RBIs across the plate this week.

The Brandon, Mississippi native has won Big South Freshman of the Week three times this season and posts a batting average of .329, 1.009 OPS, 17 RBIs, and a team-high seven home runs on the year.

Following a series win over Campbell this past weekend, Longwood enters the 2023 Big South Softball Tournament as the #1 overall seed. The Lancers are set to take on Charleston Southern in their first game of the tournament on Thursday, May 11^th at 4 p.m.
