CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Longwood second baseman Lauren Faulkner has been named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week in softball for a second time this season, the league announced Monday.

Faulkner batted .467 (7-for-15) with three home runs, one double, nine RBIs and eight runs scored in a 2-3 week for Longwood with wins over North Carolina Central and USC Upstate. She knocked in a career-high four runs in a 9-5 game two loss against USC Upstate on Saturday. 

A Holly Springs, N.C., native, Faulkner posted three two-hit games, a 1.133 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage for the week.

She became the first Longwood player to score four runs in a game in 11 years in Wednesday's 13-6 game two win at NCCU.

Faulkner also also named Big South Freshman of the Week on March 1.

Faulkner is hitting .250 in 40 games and starts. She has six homers, four doubles and 18 RBIs on the season.

Longwood (16-24, 3-3 Big South) opens a three-game series at Presbyterian Friday with a 1 p.m., doubleheader on ESPN+.
