FARMVILLE, Va. — Eight Longwood student-athletes have been named to the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-District teams for baseball and softball, College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday.

Longwood's eight scholar athletes include baseball's
James Nelson,
Eliot Dix,
Dominick D'Ercole and
Andrew Potojecki while softball's honorees include
Lindsey Hay,
Korynna Anderson,
Emily Vinson, and
Er'ron Burton.
Nelson has had a standout year for the Lancers on the field this season, batting .310 off of 35 hits and five home runs. In the classroom, Nelson's accolades are just as impressive, sporting a 3.79 GPA as a business major with a concentration in management. He is one-time President's List honoree and four-time Dean's List member.
Dix has been Longwood's top batter this season and one of the best in the conference, hitting .353 with a team-leading 67 hits. He holds a 3.79 GPA while majoring in sociology with a minor in comm studies. Dix has made the Dean's List seven times throughout his career at Longwood.
D'Ercole, a VaSID All-Academic Team selection a year ago, earned more hardware for his hard work in the classroom. He completed his bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in accounting with an additional minor in economics in December 2022 with a 3.77 GPA. D'Ercole began studying for his master's in business administration at Longwood this spring and is a six-time Dean's List member.
Baseball's final honoree is pitcher
Andrew Potojecki, who sports a 3.78 GPA while majoring in business with a concentration in management and marketing. Potojecki is a one-time President's List selection and four-time Dean's List member while being a staple of Longwood's pitching rotation for the past four years.
For softball, Anderson, who was also named to the Big South All-Academic Team, holds a 3.90 GPA as a psychology major and is a two-time President's List selection and one-time Dean's List member. Anderson was one of Longwood's top bats this season, batting .284 while being named to the Big South softball All-Tournament team.
Hay held it down behind the plate for the Lancers as Longwood's starting catcher, batting .266 off of 34 hits. She posted a 3.80 GPA as a psychology major and made the Dean's List three times throughout her time in Farmville.
Vinson made a name for herself playing in center field for the Lancers late in the season, making countless catches and putouts in crucial moments. In the classroom, the sophomore holds a 3.71 GPA as a psychology major with a minor in therapeutic activities. She is a one-time President's List selection and two-time Dean's List selection.
Finally, Burton, another Big South softball All-Tournament team member, rounds out the Academic All-District selections for the Lancers. Burton holds a 3.58 GPA as a computer science major with a minor in cyber security. She is a two-time Dean's List selection and is set to be one of Longwood's top arms next season.
