HOW IT HAPPENED:

Longwood posted the best round on the day to help the team climb up six strokes clear of fifth-place Charleston Southern.

Annabelle Jennings fired off a 73 that was the lowest round of the day among the 50-player field. The course has limited low scores. No one shot par or below on day two after only three rounds were at par or on the first day.

Jennings vaulted up the leaderboard and climbed 25 spots in to a tie for 10th behind an incredibly consistent round. She had two birdies and 13 pars, and she posted a run of eight straight holes at par or better in the middle of the round.

Grace Huffman stayed put in 10th by carding a 77 for the second day in a row. She posted 12 pars and one birdie in her second round.

Emma Landis also matched her opening day score with a second straight 78, which allowed her to climb one spot higher into a tie for 16th. She closed strong and posted seven pars and a birdie in her final nine holes after shaking off a slow start.

Peyton Schaffer tallied a 79 to finish the day tied for 16th with Landis, and Ester Choi knocked five strokes off her opening day score to move up into 39th.

WHAT THEY SAID:

"Today was solid. Now we have to have a positive mindset and stay calm in tomorrow's round," said Longwood Head Coach Brittany Dabule. "They have to stay in the moment and play each shot and hole at a time. They just need to play to their strengths and not worry about what any of the other teams are doing."

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Longwood holds a six-stroke lead over fifth-place Charleston Southern.

Longwood's best finish was in 2013, the program's first year in the Big South, when the team finished third.
