WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Annabelle Jennings opened the fall golf season with a roar for the Longwood women, carding a three-round score of 71-70-71—212 (-4). Her score broke the program's best three-round score in the team's Division I era by two strokes, and she tied for second at the William & Mary Invitational. The Lancers finished fourth in the 10-team field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After back-to-back rounds under par on opening day,
Annabelle Jennings was on the mark throughout the third and final round. She was one of two players in the field to card three straight rounds below par, and she had five birdies in the final round.
The three rounds were her three lowest scores as a Lancer, and she shaved 16 strokes off her previous best 54-hole score. She finished among the top scorers on Par 3s, Par 4s and Par 5s while ranking second in the field with 14 birdies.
The rest of the team followed suit, as the Lancers posted a 297 as a team for their lowest team score of the tournament.
Peyton Schaffer had a trio of birdies while shooting a 74 in the final round, and she finished tied for 23
rd in the 60-player field.
Mary-Sears Brown moved up four spots on the final day with a 78 to finish tied for 30
th.
Emma Landis chipped in with a 74 in the final round to move up eight spots into a tie for 45
th with teammate
Grace Huffman, who shot an 82.
Ester Choi finished with an 80 while scoring as an independent.
WHAT THEY SAID:
"I took it hole by hole today and didn't want to get ahead of myself," Jennings said after the round. "I controlled my emotions after two bad holes back-to-back, and I bounced back with a birdie."
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Longwood's final-round 297 was the third lowest round by a team.
Richmond and Elon tied for first overall with matching 877s. Charleston Southern finished third with an 888. The Lancers were 16 shots behind the Buccaneers.
The Lancers finished with the fourth-most pars in the field, with 169.
Schaffer tied for the sixth-most pars among players with 37, and Brown was eighth with 36.
Jennings was second in the field with 14 birdies.
