MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Longwood women's golf finished ninth at the three round Rivertowne Invitational at the Rivertowne Country Club in their first tournament of the spring.
 
The team shot 315-311-306—932 (+68) over two days at the Par 72, 6,146 yard course, with the team shaving multiple strokes off its total each day. The Lancers finished ahead of both UNC Asheville and Radford at the invitational.
 
With the first day suspended due to darkness, day two featured a majority of the field finishing their second rounds before doing their third and final rounds.
 
Emma Landis used an impressive opening round to vault her way into a tie for 10^th 10, finishing the 54 holes with a 69-77-77—223 (+7). She fired eight birdies, tied for seventh most in the tournament among the 90-player field.
 
Fellow Lancer Ester Choi scored six birdies in the tournament, including three in her second round. Choi shot 4 over on the day and finished the contest tied for 35^th place after carding an 80-77-76—233 (+17).
 
Diana Domenech had an impressive third round, notching four of her seven birdies for a solid close to the tournament. Her final-round 74 was Longwood's lowest in the final round, and she finished in a tie for 52^nd after carding an 87-79-74—240 (+24).
 
Peyton Schaffer shook off a slow start to the tournament and fired three birdies in her final nine holes to close the tournament with an 85-78-79—242 (+26). She tied for 59^th place. Her teammate Bobbi Uhl carded an 81-84-82—247 (+31) and tied for 74^th place in the contest.
 
The Lancers are off for the next two weeks before heading out to the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona at the Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Arizona Saturday, March 19-Sunday, March 20.
