FARMVILLE, Va. – The MAC conference released its season awards today, and sophomore standout
Maroussia Walckiers was selected to the All-MAC Second Team.
The Kraainem, Belgium native earned her first all-conference spot on the heels of a strong season up top for the Longwood offense.
"Maroo" led Longwood's offense across multiple categories. The sophomore posted a team-best nine goals and 21 points. In addition, she led the team in shots with 63. Two of her goals were game winners.
She closed the season strong and scored in each of the team's final four matches. During that run, she had a pair of multi-goal games. She tallied two goals in a 3-2 overtime win at Georgetown, including the game winner in the 70
th minute. In the final match of the season, she scored a pair of goals at Central Michigan.
The dynamic sophomore also had the game-winning penalty stroke in the shootout win over Miami (Ohio) to give the program its first victory against the Redhawks in school history.
