FARMVILLE, Va. – Senior forward
Floor Schouten and sophomore goalkeeper
Lara Van Nunen were named MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and MAC Defensive Player of the Week following Longwood's matches against Miami (OH) and La Salle this past weekend.
Schouten was a primary offensive weapon for Longwood this weekend, tallying two goals, seven shots, and five shots on goal across two matches. Her goal against Miami (OH) was Longwood's only score in regulation in a 2-1 sudden-victory shootout win. She also led the Lancers with four shots on goal against La Salle, and she scored a goal after halftime.
Van Nunen's heroic effort against Miami (OH) helped the Lancers defeat the Redhawks for the first time in school history. Her four saves on 16 total shots kept Longwood in it, and her game-winning save in the sudden-victory shootout sealed the win for the Lancers. In the shootout, she saved three of the six attempts she faced.
Schouten and Van Nunen are the first Lancers to earn MAC Player of the Week distinctions this season. The team's next match will be on the road to take on MAC opponent Appalachian State University on Friday, October 14 at 6 p.m.
