FARMVILLE, Va.- The Longwood Lancers (4-12, 2-6) will travel up to Oxford, Ohio, to face the No. 13 Miami (OH) RedHawks (12-4, 7-1) for the final matchup of the regular season.
 
HISTORICAL MATCHUPS:
  • The Lancers and RedHawks have faced off 17 times
  • The series began all the way back to 2007.
  • Miami leads 16-1, with the only Lancer win coming in 2022 from a shootout under current head coach Miranda Rigg
MAC STANDINGS:
  • Miami (OH) is currently tied for first in the MAC with UMass.
  • Miami's only conference loss comes in a 3-1 loss to UMass.
  • Longwood currently is tied for eighth with Bellarmine and Ball State. 
MATCHING UP AGAINST MIAMI: 
  • Miami was recently ranked No. 13 in the nation according to the NFHCA poll. 
  • The RedHawks have three key threats on offense: Malena Sabez (19 goals, one assist), Justina Intzes (17 goals, three assists) and Berta Mata (seven goals, 16 assists). 
  • Freshman Julia Fernandez is the lone athlete to receive the MAC defensive player of the week for Miami this season. 
  • Nicky Sjouken (12-4) has been the starting goalkeeper for the Hawks, posting 42 saves and a 0.677 save percentage. Sjouken is currently second in the MAC for goals against average and second in shutouts per game. 
  • Sabez and Intzes lead the MAC in goals, and Mata is second in the MAC for assists
  • Sabez stands second in shots and shots on goal. Intzes stands third for shots on goal this season
CHANNY IS CHARGING FORWARD:
  • Junior Channy Johnson has led the charge on offense for Longwood with eight goals and one assist. 
  • Johnson has scored in the Lancers last two outings, scoring the lone goal against No. 7 Liberty. 
  • Two of Johnson's goals have been game winners.
PASSING THE ROCK: SOPHIE SAVES IT:
  • Sophie Mooldijk (4-12) has been the goalkeeper the Lancers can rely on this season. On both October 7 and 22, Mooldijk was named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week. 
  • This season alone, Mooldijk has made 161 saves, posting a 0.742 save percentage.
  • Mooldijk is 13 saves shy of earning a spot in the Lancer record book for single season saves. 
  • Mooldijk is currently third in the MAC for saves and first in saves per game.
