BOONE, N.C. – Across the board cuts from all five golfers highlighted Longwood's final round of the Hound Ears Intercollegiate Tuesday at Hound Ears club.

All five Lancers finished multiple strokes under their first-round scores, including team leader
Sirena Walsh who carded a 79-77-156 (+12) to earn a top-10 finish at the six-team event. Walsh, a senior from Chantilly, Va., made her mark with four birdies in the two-round tournament and averaged 4.20 strokes on the par-four holes, fifth-best in the field.

Walsh led three Lancers who earned top-20 finishers, followed by fellow senior
Morgan Mugnolo and sophomore
Grace Huffman who tied for 14th. Mugnolo cut her opening-round score by seven strokes Tuesday, posting an 83-76—159 (+15) to climb 10 spots in the standings. Meanwhile, Huffman shaved three strokes off her first-round performance to card an 81-78—159 (+15) and climb four spots.

Sophomore
Diana Domenech and junior Jackie Nickels engineered two of Longwood's biggest second-round turnarounds, combining for a 13-stroke improvement. Domenech broke 80 in round two Tuesday, finishing 86-79—165 (+21) to break into the top 30, while Nickels closed the gap with an 88-82—170 (+26).

In total, the Lancers combined for a 19-stroke improvement from their day-one total to log a final line of 329-310—639, +63.

The Hound Ears Intercollegiate precedes Longwood's final tournament of the fall, which will take them to Clinton, S.C., for the Blue Hose Match Play tournament on Oct. 21-22.
