WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – The Longwood men's tennis team showcased their Division I prowess in a 9-0 sweep of Division II West Virginia Wesleyan Friday afternoon in a neutral court bout in at the historic Greenbrier Resort.
"We played a complete match," said second-year head coach
Pierre Tafelski. "We need to improve before our next match but we are on the right path."
After taking a 4-3 decision against the Bobcats last season in Farmville, Longwood flexed its muscle and used sweeps at each doubles position and straight set victories in singles on courts No. 2 through 6 en route to the dominant win.
In singles competition, senior and team captain
Florian Uffer gutted out a 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7) at the No. 1 line, and

Julian Farthing,
Arthur Bardellotto,
Noah Petralia and
Jorge Gomis earned straight set wins over the Bobcats – currently ranked seventh in the Atlantic region in Division II - in their last tune up before Big South play begins next Wednesday at Liberty.
In doubles, Uffer and Hervas set the table with an 8-2 win, while Bardellotto and Farthing picked up an 8-1 win and Petralia and Gomis won 8-6 at the No. 3 line.
The Lancers have four days to prepare for Route 460 and Commonwealth rival Liberty to open Big South play Wednesday, March 1 in Lynchburg, Va. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
