GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Longwood men's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 win over MEAC foe North Carolina A&T Saturday afternoon at the Aggies Tennis Complex in Greensboro, N.C.

The Lancers swept all three doubles matches 6-4, 7-5, 6-1 and used that early momentum to carry them through singles play.

"We played a disciplined match that allowed us to perform with consistency," said second-year head coach Pierre Tafelski. "The quality of our tennis wasn't high, which happens in a tennis match, but what was positive is to see the guys accepting it and managing to find a way."

Florian Uffer, Amadeo Hervas and Julian Farthing all picked up wins at lines No. 1 through No. 3, giving each a 3-0 start to the spring.

Uffer took down the Aggies' Nicolas Arduh 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) at the No. 1, while freshman Hervas extended his season-opening winning streak with a 6-3, 6-0 sweep at the No. 2.

Farthing, who finished off last spring with eight-straight wins, carried his performance into 2017 with a 3-0 start and a 6-1, 6-1 win in singles play.

Junior newcomer Jorge Gomis picked up his first singles win for the blue and white with a 6-2, 6-4 win, and Lachlan Manser got into the win column as well with a 6-4, 7-6 bout at the No. 6.

The Lancers look to continue their hot start with another road tilt on Sunday at CAA powerhouse Elon. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
