FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood field hockey team has been named to the 2015 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team it was announced Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Longwood was one of 63 Division I programs to make the list for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year. This marks the third year in a row that the squad has earned the NFHCA recognition for academic excellence.

The achievement adds to the squad's more recent academic honors after 11 Lancers field hockey players were selected to the 2015 All-Mid-Atlantic Conference Academic list, tied for second most in the conference. In addition, Longwood was one of six teams from the MAC to make the list.

The squad also showed excellence on the field, as the Lancers finished the 2015 season with their best MAC finish with a 4-4 record in conference play to place fourth.
