The Opening Tip
•   After an eight-day break for the holidays, Longwood returns to the court to open Big South play Thursday against Campbell in Willett Hall.
•   Thursday's game is only Longwood's third home game this month and the first since an 86-67 home win against Averett on Dec. 14. The Lancers have played four of their past five games on the road and have traveled to Indiana, Nebraska, North Carolina and Texas this month.
•   Thursday's game is also the first time in five seasons of Big South membership the Lancers have opened conference play in their first game after Christmas. Longwood is 0-4 in Big South openers.
•   Longwood currently has just eight scholarship players available with
Damarion Geter (foot),
Jahleem Montague (knee) and
Juan Munoz (knee) out with injuries and
Kendrick Thompson out due to non-disciplinary personal reasons.
Last Time Out
•   Texas Tech forward Anthony Livingston poured in 19 points, and Zach Smith turned in a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead Texas Tech to their eighth straight win, a 91-60 victory over visiting Longwood Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena.
 •   The 6-8, 220-pound Livingston went off for his fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season, hitting 6-of-11 shots from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range to make Texas Tech the Big 12's second 11-win team this season. He was one of four Red Raiders in double figures, leading Smith, Aaron Ross (14 points) and Keenan Evans (11).
•   Sophomore
Chris Shields led Longwood with a season-high 15 points off the bench. He was one of three double-figure scorers for Longwood, which also got 12 points from
Khris Lane and 11 points and five assists from
Isaiah Walton.

By The Numbers
•   Longwood's Big Three combination of guards
Darrion Allen and
Isaiah Walton and forward
Khris Lane has combined for 60.6 percent of Longwood's scoring, or 40.3 points per game. All three average at least 13.0 points per game and have a combined 26 of Longwood's 36 double-figure scoring games.
•   The underclassman frontcourt duo of sophomore
Chris Shields and freshman
JaShaun Smith has combined for 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game over the past eight games. They are shooting .518 (57-of-110) from the field and .484 (15-of-31) from long range during that span.
•   Shields and Smith's combined production spiked after redshirt junior forward
Damarion Geter went down with an injury on Nov. 18 against Salem International. In the three games before Geter's injury, Shields and Smith combined for just 6.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
•  Â
Isaiah Walton is one of three players in the Big South averaging at least 10.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game, joining Campbell's Chris Clemons and Gardner-Webb's LaQuincy Rideau.
•  Â
Darrion Allen is just 163 points shy of reaching 1,000 points for his career. He would become the sixth Lancer of the Division I era to reach that plateau and the 21st in school history.
•   Allen has hit 15 consecutive free throws, raising his season free throw percentage to .857 (18-of-21) in the process. Allen shot .879 (58-of-66) from the charity stripe last season, which was the third-best clip in school history.
•  Â
Khris Lane has accounted for nearly one-quarter of Longwood's rebounds this season, grabbing 83 of the Lancers' 340 boards. The 6-6, 245-pound Lane ranks third in the Big South with 7.5 rebounds per game and has 10-plus rebounds in four games this season.
•   Longwood is 3-0 when Lane has a double-double this season.
