FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood field hockey forward
Jennifer Burris has been selected to represent the Lancers in the 2015 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Senior Game, as announced Wednesday by the NFHCA office.
Burris, a Virginia Beach, Va. native, is one of 38 senior Division I players chosen for the annual senior game. The senior forward becomes the third player in program history to participate in the game, joining Stacey de Grandhomme and Olga Knop.
"It is such an honor to be chosen to this squad," said Burris. "To be thought of as the same caliber of player as Stacey and Ollie from past years who have made this squad is amazing. For Longwood to be on the map in this event is great for the school. I can't wait to represent the university in the best way I can."
A four-year starter, Burris ranks ninth on Longwood's all-time career goals and assists lists with 29 goals and 20 assists, while racking up 77 career points. She has led Longwood to 29 wins in her career.
"This is a great honor for Jen and the program," said Longwood head coach
Iain Byers. "Being selected to this team is something that she fully deserves from her hard work over the last four years. Our coaching staff and team are very proud of her."
Burris leads the team with nine goals in her senior campaign, in which she also recorded the first hat trick of her illustrious career against Appalachian State on senior day.
The NFHCA Senior Game will be held at the University of Michigan in Ann Harbor, Mich., Saturday, Nov. 21, with game time slated for 2:30 p.m.
