FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team fell, 6-1, against Big South Conference opponent Gardner-Webb University (10-10, 2-3 BSC) on Monday afternoon at the Lancer Courts. The Lancers were paced by junior
Daniel Elston/St. Austell, Cornwall, England, who picked up the team's lone win in singles play. Longwood (1-14, 0-6) will return to action on Saturday, April 5 when the team hosts in-state and league rival Radford University in Farmville beginning at 1 p.m.
"We competed well today, we just need to find the belief during our next week of practice," said head coach
Jakob Gustafsson. "Gardner-Webb is one of the hottest teams in the Big South and they played very well today. I was happy to see how Dan fought back and showed resilience in his match. All of the players have the ability to do what he did today. I believe our best is still to come."
