The Opening Tip
• The Lancers host UT Martin for their second straight home game Saturday at 5 p.m. in Willett Hall. It will be Longwood's third home game in the first nine games of the year.
• The Lancers are 2-0 in Willett Hall this season following Wednesday's 74-73 win over Dartmouth. The Lancers last started 3-0 at home in 2010-11 with wins over Virginia-Wise, Columbia and Montreat.
• Longwood has had a 20-point scorer five times this season, including Quincy Taylor's 34-point outburst Wednesday against Dartmouth.
• Longwood has forced opponents into 120 turnovers this season, the most of any team in the Big South. The Lancers force an average of 15.0 turnovers per game and average 15.9 points per game off those turnovers.
 
Last Time Out
Quincy Taylor exploded for 34 points and hit the game-winning free throws with six seconds left to propel Longwood to a 74-73 comeback win over Dartmouth Wednesday in Willett Hall.
• Longwood trailed by 11 at halftime, but Taylor took over the game scoring 24 points and hitting 9-of-10 shots from the field and all four three-pointers in the second half.
• Dartmouth held a 73-66 lead with 1:02 left in the game, but the Lancers closed out the contest on an 8-0 run capped by Taylor's consecutive free throws. Taylor scored Longwood's final four points of the game, all within the final 15 seconds.
Shaquille Johnson poured in 18 points with five assists and 11-of-11 free throws. Johnson scored 13 of those points in the second half while grabbing five rebounds and hitting 9-of-9 free throws.
 
By The Numbers
• Longwood has forced opponents into a conference-leading 120 turnovers, which is 19 more than the next closest Big South team. The Lancers have forced at least 10 turnovers seven of eight games this season and are averaging 15.9 points per game off opponent turnovers.
• Longwood is shooting 40.8 percent (20-of-49) from three-point range in its two home games this season, both wins. Freshman Ryan Badowski has hit 8-of-14 (.571) shots from three-point range in Willett Hall, while junior Shaquille Johnson has hit 14-of-15 free throws.
• Longwood is 2-0 in one-possession games this season, defeating UNC Greensboro 81-79 in overtime on Nov. 21 and Dartmouth 74-73 on Dec. 3.
• Redshirt senior point guard Quincy Taylor scored a career-high 34 points Wednesday against Dartmouth to post the fourth-highest scoring effort by a Longwood player in the Division I era. Taylor's 34  points came in only his fifth career game as a Lancer.
• Led by 6-8, 255-pound center Lotanna Nwogbo, Longwood is averaging 27.0 points in the paint per game. Nwogbo ranks among the Big South's top 10 in scoring (8th, 13.6 ppg.), rebounding (2nd, 8.3 rpg.), field goal percentage (1st, .631) and free throw percentage (7th, .794). Nwogbo is also tied for the Big South lead with two double-doubles.and three double-digit rebounding games.
• Junior guard Shaquille Johnson has dished out at least three assists in every game and leads Longwood with 33 assists. He ranks fifth in the Big South with 4.1 assists per game.
• Johnson is averaging 17.0 points per game over his last two games while hitting 13 consecutive free throws during that span.
• Taylor has scored in double figures in four of his five games this season. Taylor, who was the starting point guard as a sophomore at UAB before suffering a torn ACL late in the season, is averaging 15.2 points and 3.2 assists per game.
