The Opening Tip
•    Wednesday's game marks a homecoming for four Longwood players who hail from Ohio, and head coach Jayson Gee, who was associate head coach at Cleveland State from 2006-13.
•    The Miami game will be Longwood's eighth road game of the season. The Lancers have played seven of their first 10 games on the road.
•    Longwood has shot .400 or better from three-point range in three of the past four games.
•    Longwood has forced a conference-leading 154 turnovers this season, 10 more than the next closest Big South squad. Longwood averages 15.7 points off turnovers per game.
•    Junior Shaquille Johnson has scored in double figures in a team-leading eight of 10 games. Johnson also leads Longwood and ranks sixth in the Big South with 3.6 assists per game.

Last Time Out
•    UMBC pulled away in the second half by shooting .647 (11-of-17) over the final 20 minutes to upend Longwood, 58-53, Sunday in Baltimore.
•    UMBC's Wayne Sparrow scored a game-high 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field 4-of-5 from three-point range. Sparrow scored nine points over the agme's final eight minutes to spark a late run that saw UMBC break open a 42-42 tie with a 10-2 run.
•    Shaquille Johnson scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Longwood, while Quincy Taylor added 15 points while playing all 40 minutes.
•    Taylor scored 12 points over the game's final two minutes to help Longwood cut the deficit to 56-53 with 40 seconds remaining, but Sparrow hit two free throws and secured the rebound on Longwood's final shot to lock up the win.

•    Longwood is one win away from reaching 500 victories in the program's 39-year history. The Lancers are 499-474 all-time with an 80-149 record in eight years of Division I competition.
•    Four Longwood players are Ohio natives. Sophomore Damarion Geter (Dayton, Ohio/Dunbar) and freshmen Ryan Badowski (Cleveland, Ohio/Brunswick), Victor Dorsey (Akron, Ohio/Akron Springfield) and Bryan Gee (Cleveland, Ohio/Cornerstone Christian Academy) all hail from the Buckeye State. Head coach Jayson Gee also spent seven years as the associate head coach at Cleveland State University from 2006-13.
•    Longwood is 2-0 in one-possession games this season, defeating UNC Greensboro 81-79 in overtime on Nov. 21 and Dartmouth 74-73 on Dec. 3.
•    Cleveland, Ohio, native Ryan Badowski averages 8.5 points per game for the Big South's fifth-highest scoring average off the bench. Badowski averages 21.8 minutes per game but has not started any of his 10 contests. Badowski has three double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 21-point effort against Averett in the season opener.
•    Badowski leads all NCAA freshmen with 64 three-point field goal attempts and is tied for fourth among freshmen with 22 made treys.He is also the Big South's third-leading freshman scorer.
•    Quincy Taylor is averaging 25.0 points per game over his last three contests. Taylor scored 34 points in a win over Dartmouth on Dec. 3, 26 against UT Martin on Dec. 6 and 15 at UMBC Sunday. Taylor has scored in double figures in six of seven games.
•    Taylor has hit 14 of his last 24 three-point shots, shooting .583 from three-point range over his last four games. Taylor has hit multiple treys in all four of those games and is shooting .500 (17-of-34) from long range this season.
