Lewis & Myers Share Fall World Series MVP Honors

Duo Leads White Team to Three-Game Series Win

Alex Lewis
FARMVILLE, Va. – Senior right-hander Aaron Myers and sophomore infielder Alex Lewis shared co-MVP honors after leading Longwood's white squad to a three-game series win during the Blue-White Fall World Series this week at Charles Buddy Bolding Stadium.

Myers and Lewis lifted the white team to wins in games one and three in the program's first intrasquad Fall World Series under first-year head coach Ryan Mau. The white squad won the opener 7-0 and bounced back from a 9-4 loss in game two to take the decisive game three 8-1.

"Congratulations to the white team in what turned out to be a very hard-fought Blue-White World Series and a great ending to our fall season," said Mau, who takes over a Longwood baseball program that returns six position starters and all three weekend starters from last year's squad. "The entire team worked extremely hard all fall and made some big improvements. We are now headed into our winter offseason and look to build on the foundation we have laid."

Lewis was the hero of game three, driving in three runs as part of a 3-for-5 effort at the plate that included two doubles, two walks and a stolen base. It was the culmination of a productive series for the sophomore third baseman, who had seven hits and seven RBI during the three-game set.

Lewis' performance was part of an offensive explosion for the white team, which also got three hits, three RBI and a triple from freshman Hayes Nelson to back a 4.1-inning, one run performance on the mound from junior right-hander Allen Ellis. Freshmen Zach Potojecki and Kemper Terry closed out the game with hitless relief appearances.

Myers, meanwhile, earned his co-MVP honors in the first game of the series when he fired five no-hit innings with six strikeouts to lift the white squad to a 7-0 win. A 6-3, 225-pound starter and 2014 All-Big South first team selection, Myers enters his senior season as the ace of Longwood's staff after a junior campaign that included a 7-4 record and a 1.76 ERA in 14 starts. For his career, Myers boasts a 12-6 record, 16 saves and a 2.60 ERA.
