FARMVILLE, Va. – The ninth-seeded Longwood University men's tennis team will take on eighth-seeded UNC Asheville in a first round match at the 2013 Big South Conference Championship on Wednesday, April 17 beginning at 1 p.m. This year's tournament, slated to run from April 17-20, is being hosted by Winthrop University at the Winthrop Memorial Courts in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Jakob Gustafsson finished the 2013 regular season with a 5-14 overall record, including a 0-8 mark in conference play. Asheville compiled a 10-9 record against all opponents, as well as a 2-6 mark against Big South members.
Coastal Carolina, who finished the season with an 8-0 Big South record, earned the No. 1 seed for the tournament. The Chanticleers were followed by No. 2 Campbell University (6-2 BSC), No. 3 Presbyterian College (5-3 BSC), No. 4 Winthrop (5-3 BSC), No. 5 Radford University (4-4 BSC), No. 6 Gardner-Webb University (3-5 BSC) and No. 7 Liberty University (3-5 BSC). UNC Asheville and Longwood rounded out the conference seedings.
Wednesday's first round match will be followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 19, with the semifinals slated for Friday, April 19. The title match will be played on Sunday, April 20. The Big South Men's Tennis Champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament. The conference championship schedule is as follows:
