FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood Universtity earned a 6-1 men's tennis victory over Norfolk State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Lancer Courts in Farmville Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) and freshman Steed Johnson|Raleigh, N.C. (Broughton) earned their first season win at #4 and #5 singles, respectively. The Lancers (2-5) travel to Hampton University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Friday, March 9 at 1 p.m. in Hampton, Virginia.

Becker won the singles match 7-6 (1), 6-3, and Johnson won 6-1, 6-2 in his singles match. Becker also played #2 doubles with freshman Harry Kelleher|Sydney, Australia (St Aloysius' College) and the pair won 8-5. Kelleher also won 6-1, 6-0 at #5 singles.  Johnson partnered with senior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) for an 8-6 loss at #3 doubles, but Tanaka won 6-3, 7-6 (1) at #1 singles. Junior transfer Giorgi Khmiadashvili|Tbilisi, Georgia (Public School 148) won 6-4, 6-7 (3), 10-8 at #2 singles and was partners with freshman Daniel Elston|Bath, England (Ralph Allen School) for an 8-3 win at #1 doubles.
