FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University took a 7-0 men's tennis sweep past visiting Division II Virginia State University on Lancer Courts in Farmville Wednesday afternoon. With his 6-3, 6-4 victory at #1 singles, senior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) has extended his winning streak to six matches. Longwood (6-6) will travel to James Madison University of the Colonial Athletic Association on Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m., in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Tanaka also won 8-2 at #3 doubles with freshman partner Steed Johnson|Raleigh, N.C. (Broughton). Johnson played to a 6-0, 6-1 #6 singles win, and junior transfer Giorgi Khmiadashvili|Tbilisi, Georgia (Public School 148) swept 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles. He shutout at #1 doubles with freshman Daniel Elston|Bath, England (Ralph Allen School) winning 8-0, while Elston was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at #3 singles. Sophomore Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) took a 6-1, 6-2 win at #4 singles, and freshman Harry Kelleher|Sydney, Australia (St Aloysius' College) won 6-1, 6-1 at #5 singles. The duo won 8-6 at #2 doubles.
