CLINTON, S.C. – Longwood University won a close men's tennis match 4-3 at Presbyterian College of the Big South Conference Wednesday afternoon in Clinton, South Carolina. The match was tied 3-3 before junior transfer Giorgi Khmiadashvili|Tbilisi, Georgia (Public School 148) closed out the three-set victory at #2 singles for the deciding point. The Lancers (5-6) are off for a week before hosting Virginia State Wednesday, March 21 at 1 p.m. on Lancer Courts in Farmville.

Khmiadashvili also played #1 doubles with freshman Daniel Elston|Bath, England (Ralph Allen School) but the pair lost 8-4. Elston dropped his #3 singles match, too, 6-3, 6-1. Senior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) won 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles as well as at #3 doubles with freshman Steed Johnson|Raleigh, N.C. (Broughton) 8-7. Johnson, however, lost 6-3, 7-5 at #6 singles. Sophomore Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) and freshman Harry Kelleher|Sydney, Australia (St Aloysius' College) won their respective singles matches at #4 and #5, 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-3. The two also paired up at #2 doubles but fell 8-3.
