WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Longwood Universtity men's tennis team fell 5-2 at William and Mary Sunday morning in Williamsburg, Virginia. Senior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) and junior transfer Giorgi Khmiadashvili|Tbilisi, Georgia (Public School 148) scored the Lancers' (0-3) two points in singles action. LU plays the season's first home match Wednesday, February 8 against Liberty at 1:30 p.m. in Farmville on Lancer Courts.

Tanaka topped Anton Anderson 6-4, 6-4 at #1 singles, and Khmiadashvili won 6-3, 6-2 at #2 singles against Adrian Vodislav while falling as a #2 pair 8-1 to Anderson and John Banks. Also losing at #1 doubles was freshman Daniel Elston|Bath, England (Ralph Allen School) and classmate Harry Kelleher|Sydney, Australia (St Aloysius' College) 8-4 to Jamie Whiteford and Ben Guthrie. At #3 doubles, sophomore Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) and freshman Steed Johnson|Raleigh, N.C. (Broughton) couldn't overcome Braig and Vodislav, dropping 8-3.

Elston was shutout at #3 singles against Ben Hoogland 6-0, 6-0, and Kelleher was beat by Robert Pietrucha 6-2, 6-1 in the #4 slot. At #5 and #6 singles, Becker lost 6-5, 6-3 at the hands of Will Juggins, and Johnson was topped 6-0, 6-3 by Banks.
