CONWAY, S.C. - The Longwood University men's tennis team came out on top 4-3 to a tough Coastal Carolina (7-4) squad Sunday morning at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center in Conway, South Carolina. The dynamic duo of sophomore Marc Ferrigno|Hvidovre, Denmark (Brondby Gymnasium) and freshman Jimmy Davis|Manassas (Stonewall Jackson) are 5-0 on the season after winning again at No. 1 doubles 8-6. LU  (4-4) welcomes George Washington to Lancer Courts in Farmville on Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m., beginning a three-game homestand.

Ferrigno and Davis also won at No. 2 and No. 4 singles,  respectively, 6-0, 6-3 and 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Also earning a win in singles competition was junior Nobu Tanaka| Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) with a 7-5, 6-1 score at No. 1. Tanaka then paired up with freshman Crescente Lesser|Santiago, Chile (La Reina) for a victory at No. 3 doubles 8-2. Lesser did not have the same success in his No. 3 singles match, however, falling 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The Lancers fell also at No. 5 singles via senior Milo Barajas-Alexander|Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) 6-1, 6-0 as well as at No. 6 singles by freshman Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 7-5. The senior-freshman combo also competed in No. 2 doubles, falling 8-4.
