Antwan Carter|St. Petersburg, Fla. (St. Petersburg) (17.7 points, 9.1 rebounds). The NCAA Division II Shock (9-15) are coached by Patrick Crarey, and led by senior Eric Peguero (16.3 points). Longwood will also recognize senior
Jeffrey Ryan|Beacon, N.Y.|Newburgh Free Academy who has been a member of the program for the past four years as well.

Longwood Head Coach
Mike Gillian (North Adams State '86) was named the seventh head coach for men's basketball at Longwood on May 2, 2003. He had been an assistant coach for Jim Larranaga at George Mason for six years (1997-2003) after a year with Coach Larranaga at Bowling Green State (1996-97). A native of Ayer, Massachusetts, Gillian is 74-168 at Longwood, including a record of 12-19 last season. The 2008-09 team finished with a 17-14 record as Gillian earned 2009 Independent Coach of the Year honors from CollegeInsider.com.

Antwan Carter is a third-year team member and left-handed post player who may just be the best Low- and/or Mid-Major college basketball player that you have never heard of … He is averaging team-highs of 17.7 points (57%?FG) and 9.1 rebounds with 28 double-figure scoring games and 13 double-doubles. Carter has averaged 20.5 points and 9.9 rebounds over the last eight games, including five 20-point games -- four with at least 25 points -- along with five double-doubles. His season-highs include a career-high 30 points vs. South Carolina State (12.23) in Las Vegas, 17 rebounds vs. Virginia-Wise (11.18), a career-high tying five assists vs. South Dakota (1.6), three steals vs. Campbell (1.25), two blocks vs. Campbell (1.25), and two three-point field goals at Navy (1.4). Carter earned All-Tournament Team honors during the 2010 iBN Sports|Las Vegas Classic, averaging 21.8 points and 7.0 rebounds over four games against New Mexico (12.17), Colorado (12.19), SIU Edwardsville (12.22), and SCSU (12.23). He leads the team in 10 positive statistics, and already totals 1,252 career points (10th), 703 career rebounds (3rd), and 60 career blocks (8th) in 91 career games. Carter is one of only three players in the 35-year history of the program with 1,200 career points and 700 career rebounds. He also ranks among the top-10 in career field goals (522, 8th), field goal percentage (.548 [522-952], 6th), and rebounding average (7.7, 4th). Named 2009-10 All-Independent 1st-Team, Carter did not play organized basketball until ninth grade. Uniquely enough, Antwan has eight siblings that includes two sisters and six brothers that range in age from 12 to 42, including a twin brother.
