FARMVILLE, Va. –Longwood Head Men's Basketball Coach
Ronnie Thomas announced the addition of Jorke Aav to the men's basketball team for the 2026-27 season.
Aav most recently played in the top professional league in Germany after competing in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket last year.
"Jorke has already demonstrated a high level of professionalism, moving from Estonia to Germany at just 15 years old to pursue his development," Thomas said. "He understands the commitment and discipline required to compete at a high level. As a point guard, he plays with great feel and makes strong decisions, which is reflected in his assist-to-turnover ratio. We expect him to come in and elevate our program."
The 6'2, 182-pound guard played in two games at the top level in Germany for the VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier after spending four seasons competing for Team Ehingen Urspring.
Last summer, he averaged 12 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for Estonia at FIBA U20 Eurobasket. In his final two games, he totaled 16 points, five boards and seven assists against Slovakia before scoring 23 points with two rebounds and five assists against Georgia.
In his final season with Team Ehingen Urspring, he averaged 13.4 points per game across 25 games. In addition, he added 3.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, with his 123 assists more than double his prior best. He held an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5 while playing better than 30 minutes per game.
He joins a Longwood that enters its second year under Thomas's direction, and the team has won two Big South titles in the past five seasons.
