FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University field hockey team ran past visiting Saint Louis University of the Atlantic 10 Conference 4-0 on Monday afternoon at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Freshman

Lauren Sullivan|Fredericksburg (Stafford) added goals for the Lancers (8-7) against the Billikens (3-11). Longwood returns to action on Thursday, October 13, when it hosts James Madison University of the Colonial Athletic Association at 7 p.m. at the Athletics Complex in Farmville.
The Lancers took the lead at 4:14 when de Grandhomme scored on a corner that was inserted by senior
Rachel Akers|Virginia Beach (First Colonial) and set up by senior
Sarah Bietsch|Chambersburg, Pa. (Chambersburg Area). Longwood added to the lead at 18:06 when
Jessica Diaz got her own rebound and sent the ball under the SLU goalkeeper to give the Lancers the 2-0 advantage. Sullivan pushed the Longwood lead to 3-0 when she collected a rebound off the leg pads of the SLU goalkeeper and scored at 31:55.
Jessica Diaz added her second goal of the match at 63:25 as she took the ball on the left, then worked her way back to the center of the cage and around the goalkeeper before firing on the open cage at 63:25.
The Lancers outshot the Billikens 33-5 and had an 11-7 advantage on penalty corners.
Jessica Diaz led Longwood with a match-high six shots, including five shots on goal, while senior
Alison Akers|Virginia Beach (First Colonial) attempted five shots. de Grandhomme, Sullivan and junior
Christina Verhulst|Yorktown (Grafton) added four shots each. Junior
Kaye Goulding|Tickhill, England (Wakefield Girls) played the first half in goal and was replaced at halftime by junior
Amy Lewis|Lewisville, N.C. (Forsyth Country Day) who recorded three saves in the second half. Saint Louis was paced by Laken Gehris with two shots. Megan Ambrose made 12 saves and allowed four goals while playing the duration in goal.
