FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University women's basketball program is set to travel to Liberty University of the Big South Conference on Tuesday, January 12, at 7 p.m.. The Lancers (4-13) are coming off a 69-53 setback at Davidson College last Wednesday while the Flames (9-4) topped Big South foe Winthrop 67-38 on Saturday. Longwood and Liberty have met 26 times on the hardwood with the Lancers leading the series 15-11. Liberty has won the last four meetings, including a 82-48 victory during the 2006-07 season. Senior
Becky Fernandes/Fort Belvoir (Bishop Ireton) is the only current Longwood player that played in the game, grabbing three rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists in 12 minutes.
Longwood is 4-13 with losses to #25 James Madison (85-67), Virginia Tech (55-77) and West Virginia (43-74). Longwood has wins over Big South Conference member High Point (76-68), Campbell (72-55) and Texas-Pan American (72-62). The Lancers are led by freshman

Liberty is 9-4 on the season and riding a two-game winning streak. The Flames have defeated Tulane (63-52), UNC Greensboro (60-42) and Winthrop (67-38) with losses to James Madison (50-60) and Gardner-Webb (70-65). Liberty is led by Devon Brown (17.5) while averaging 65.5 points and allowing 50.4 points.
