FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team topped Liberty University 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon in Farmville. Longwood won four of the six singles flights as well as the doubles point. The Lancers improve to 9-6 while the Flames fall to 11-7. Longwood returns to the court on Friday, April 3, when it hosts George Mason University at 3 p.m.
The Lancers received singles wins from senior
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) at #2 (6-3, 4-6, 6-3), freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College) at #3 (6-4, 6-2), junior
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) at #4 (6-1, 6-1) and junior
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) at #5 (6-0, 6-0). Senior
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') lost at #1 (1-6, 4-6) and classmate
Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) fell at #6 (2-6, 3-6).
Longwood claimed the doubles point with Heird and Lindsley winning at #1 (8-1) and sophomore
Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) and Tanaka winning at #3 (9-7). Cardoso and Garcia de Andoain fell at #2 (7-9).
