FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to George Washington University on Sunday afternoon in Farmville. The Lancers fall to 8-6 on the season while the Colonials improve to 6-7. Longwood returns to the court on Tuesday, March 31, when it hosts Liberty University at 1 p.m. in Farmville.
The Lancers won two of the six singles flights, with senior
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) winning at #2 (6-2, 7-5) and junior
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) winning at #5 (4-6, 7-5, 6-3). Freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College) fell at #3 (6-4, 5-7, 2-6), only his second loss of the season in dual match play and his first since January 18. Senior
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') lost at #1 (2-6, 1-6), junior
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) fell at #4 (5-7, 4-6) and senior
Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) fell at #5 (4-6, 4-6).
Longwood was swept in the three doubles flights. Heird and Brawley fell at #1 (4-8), Cardoso and Garcia de Andoain fell at #2 (8-9 (6)) and Lindsley and Tanaka lost at #3 (6-8).
