FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis teamed topped in-state foe James Madison University 4-3 on Saturday in Farmville. Sophomore
Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington, Va. (Bishop O'Connell) won the #6 singles 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 with the match tied 3-3 to clinch the win for the Lancers. The two teams split the six singles points and the Lancers won the doubles point. Longwood improves to 7-4 while JMU falls to 4-11. The Lancers return to action tomorrow (Sunday) as they host UNC Greensboro at 1 p.m. in Farmville.
The other singles wins were freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College) at #3 (7-5, 6-2) and junior
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) at #5 (6-1, 6-1). Senior
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') fell at #1 (1-6, 2-6), senior
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) lost at #2 (1-6, 3-6) and junior
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) fell at #4 (6-4, 3-6, 5-7).
Longwood claimed two of the three doubles flights to win the point. Cardoso and Garcia de Andoain won at #2 (8-6) and Tanaka and Lindsley claimed the win at #3 (8-4). Heird and Barajas-Alexander fell at #1 (2-8)
