FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team topped the University of Mary Washington 5-2 on Wednesday in Farmville. Longwood improves to 6-4 on the season while Mary Washington falls to 6-6. The Eagles are ranked #15th nationally in the ITA Division III rankings. Senior
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) won at the #2 singles (6-4, 6-3) to lead the Lancers. Longwood returns to action on Saturday, March 21 when it hosts James Madison at 12 p.m. in Farmville.
Longwood won four of the six singles points. The other singles winners were freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College) at #3 (6-3, 6-3), junior
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) at #4 (7-5, 6-0) and junior
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) at #5 (6-2, 6-1). Senior
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') fell at #1 singles (6-7 (8), 6-2, 10-12) and senior
Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach, Va. (Frank W. Cox) dropped the #6 singles point (6-0, 6-7, 6-10).
The Lancers claimed the doubles point as well with Garcia de Andoain and Cardso winning at #2 doubles (8-6) and Lindsley and Tanaka winning at #3 doubles (8-4). Heird and sophomore
