RESULTS

RICHMOND, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team defeated the University of Richmond 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon in Richmond. The Lancers improve to 5-4 on the season while Richmond falls to 1-12. Senior Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') led the Lancers, winning the #1 singles 6-4, 6-4. Longwood returns to action tomorrow (Wednesday) as it hosts the University of Mary Washington at 3 p.m. in Farmville.

Longwood won four out of six singles matches. Earning wins in singles, in addition to Garcia de Andoain, were senior Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) at #2 (4-6, 6-0, 6-1), freshman Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College) at #3 (6-3, 6-3) and junior Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) at #5 (7-6, 7-6). Junior David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) fell at #4 singles (2-6, 1-6) as did sophomore Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington, Va. (Bishop O'Connell) at #6 (0-6, 6-2, 3-6).

Heird and Barajas-Alexander won at #1 doubles (9-7). Cardoso and Garcia de Andoain fell at #2 doubles (5-8) and Tanaka and Lindsley slipped at #3 (5-8)
