WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Longwood University dropped a 6-1 men's tennis road decision at the College of William and Mary Sunday night in Williamsburg. The Lancers (1-2) received their lone win of the match at #5 singles as freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) defeated his opponent from the #64 Tribe (7-2) (6-2, 7-5). Longwood will not play again until February 7 when the program will play matches against both Gardner-Webb University and North Greenville College in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
At nationally-ranked William and Mary, others competing in singles for Longwood included seniors
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) at #1 (3-6, 6-7) and
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla) at #2 (5-7, retired), along with juniors
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) at #3 (2-6, 4-6),
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) at #4 (4-6, 6-7), and
Andres Lazarte/Vienna (San Miguel) at #6 (2-6, 3-6). In doubles for the Lancers, Cardoso and Heird fell at #1 (1-8); Lindsley and de Andoain fell at #2 (5-8), while Tanaka and sophomore
Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) fell at #3 (5-8).
