RICHMOND, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team dropped its final match at the VCU 4x1 Invitational on Sunday afternoon to host Virginia Commonwealth 5-0. The Lancers fall to 1-1 on the season after defeating Richmond in the first round of the VCU 4x1 Invitational on January 17. Freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) came close to pulling out a point for the Lancers from the #3 singles spot, falling to Filip Svensson after three sets (7-5, 0-6, 11-13). Longwood returns to the courts on Sunday, January 25, facing William and Mary in Williamsburg at 5 p.m..
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) fell in the #1 singles spot to Thibault Charron (3-6, 4-6), while
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') fell to Bobo Delemark 1-6, 2-6 in the #2 position. Junior
Andres Lazarte/Vienna (San Miguel) fell at the #4 singles spot to Jordan Dyke 1-6, 1-6.
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) and
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) faced Emil Lindgren and Ben Bouhana in the doubles portion of the 4x1 falling in straight sets 4-6, 0-6.
