Longwood baseball junior Michael Osinski earned this week's ARMS Software Lancer of the Week award after leading the Lancers to a 9-5 win over Elon in Sunday's series finale.
Osinski, a shortstop from Vestal, N.Y., powered the Lancers to their first win of the season with a ninth-inning grand slam that broke open a tied game and completed a comeback effort that saw the Lancers explode for nine runs and two homers en route to the road win in Elon, N.C.
Osinski, who started all 59 games at shortstop and hit .305 last season, swung his way to a .364 average in the three-game season-opening series against the Phoenix, driving in five runs, scoring five and reaching base six times, including his game-winning grand slam. He made just one error in his three games and now leads the Lancers in batting average, on base percentage, slugging, hits, RBI and runs scored.
