Women's tennis junior Anna Pelak went 1-1 in singles play atop the Lancer lineup and 1-1 in doubles play during Longwood's opening week of spring competition. Opening the season as Longwood's No. 2 singles player, the 5-6 native of McLean, Va., defeated Navy's Rozel Hernandez in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, Saturday in her spring debut. She also paired with junior teammate Mason Thomas to upend Navy's duo of Carlee Conway and Katie Porter 6-4 in doubles play.
Pelak's lone singles loss -- her first of the competition season -- came at the hands of Richmond ace Anna Abadias, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 1 singles spot Sunday.
